Tawang Pawan Hans Helicopter Crash Kills 17
About seventeen people are feared dead in a Pawan Hans helicopter crash at Tawang town in Arunachal Pradesh on Tuesday afternoon.
“17 out of 23 on board are presumed dead. 6 have been rescued,” told Tawang District Commissioner G Padu.
The Pawan Hans Mi17 helicopter was enroute Guwahati town in Assam to Tawang when it caught fire just minutes before landing at 1.57 pm. It fell into a gorge from a 15 metres height.
The 5 crew members have been determined as Captain Varun Gupta, Flight Engineer PK Chaturvedi, Captain AK Tiwary, Assistant Maintenance Engineer SB Kulkarni and Flight attendant A Dikshit.
The 18 civilian passengers comprised 2 minors.
The Indian Army is remaining rescue operations.
